Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
State and Federal law protects the relationship between a client and a counselor/therapist, and information cannot be disclosed without the client's written permission. In Washington State there are three exceptions:
- Suspected child abuse, which I am required by law to report.
- Suspected dependent adult or elder abuse, which I am required by law to report.
- If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I am required by law to notify the appropriate persons/authorities to ensure their safety.
I also follow HIPAA Security guidelines to keep all your information confidential.
